Information

What a Gentleman Wears to a ball

White Glove Gala (WGG) is an event of classic, formal elegance. An etiquette dress code is implemented to achieve that elegance. The gala’s festive atmosphere is created through the etiquette of formal dress. Formal elegance is an essential element of the evening’s experience of the gala.

WGG offers an evening of exceptional etiquette and thoughtful attire centered on respecting others. The late Queen Elizabeth II always provided an opportunity for guests to dress according to cultural decorum and set guidelines. Thank you for respecting the WGG etiquette requests for appropriate attire. You will have an evening of a lifetime!

Gentleman’s Attire

Suit or Tuxedo
Bow Tie
(NOT a long suit tie, thank you)
White Gloves for gentlemen – optional
Comfortable, dress shoes
(NO TENNIS SHOES, THANK YOU)
Gentlemen, tennis shoes (or dress shoes with a tennis shoe sole/base) make contra-dancing and waltzing difficult. Please be sure to wear a shoe with a traditional dress sole or leather sole.

The White Glove Gala is NOT a period costume ball. While we celebrate and honor tradition, period costumes do not meet the Etiquette-Dress Requests for the evening and will not be approved.

What a Lady Wears to a ball

In centuries past, a true lady honored the host & hostess as well an evening’s guests by appropriately dressing for the occasion and those around her, not for herself.

Ladies’ Gowns

Floor-length (to the floor) ball gowns

Ladies’ Accessories

  • Formal White Gloves (of any length)
  • Comfortable formal or dancing shoes
  • (No tennis shoes, thank you)

Following the classic, traditional, formal theme dictates gowns have no cut outs, sheer middles, plunging necklines, leg slits, no cleavage, or shortened front hemlines.

Gown backs should cover the base of shoulder blades, and straps should be at least 1/2 inch width.

(Ladies, remember the dances are fast and active ~ full and a-line gowns are easier to dance in than sheaths or slender skirts!)

The White Glove Gala is NOT a period costume ball.  While we celebrate and honor tradition, period costumes do not meet the Etiquette-Dress Requests for the evening and will not be approved.

Absolutely! This event was created for you, and we want you to return to enjoy a formal evening once again!  Bring a friend or a date and be ready to enjoy yourself more than you did the first years!

No. If your graduating high school year was not 2020, 2021, 2022, or is not 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026, 2027 then you will need to wait another year.

Yes! It helps if couples attend. Ladies, feel free to invite a gentleman friend. Gentlemen, feel free to invite a lady friend. This assists with dancing numbers and makes a few of the dances easier.

Not at all! Dates are not required. Come and enjoy meeting people!

Not at ALL! We will provide the instruction (and laughter!!!). It is a BLAST and you will be a pro by the end of the evening!

That is not a problem! We teach you everything you need to know at practice and you learn everything from scratch each year. We also call the dances so that you are able to remember the steps easily.

Yes. Practice helps make the evening of the event run smoothly. You will have as much fun at practice as the night of the ball!

Your name will be added to a waiting list. When a ticket comes available, we will let you know and forward that number to you for you to use. Thank you for your patience!
